Difficult to get a suitable wheelchair

We were offered a wheelchair for my daughter that was so basic it didn't meet her needs. For example she has seizures so we needed it to be able to tilt. We got funding in the end and went through Freedom for Kids but the whole process took about eight months. We kept getting told to speak to different people and that we'd need an OT assessment but the waiting list was so long. In the end we had to take a chair we hadn't seen on face value as we weren't able to travel to Newcastle where they're based and they couldn't bring it down. It's very heavy which limits where we can go and it's hard to store. It's so big we had to get a 7-seater car. I am grateful but I would have preferred to have been allocated a budget ourselves so we could see what we were buying beforehand and make sure it was suitable.
