always excellent
I don't often give reviews, however i have to say that Milwood Surgery has always been so amazing to me and my family. I do hear other friends and families experiences with their surgerys as being difficult but at milwood i have always felt listened too, respected and cared for. All staff go above and beyond to help me and my family. I suffered from post-natal depression. I could not have asked for more. Care was more than i could have hoped for, all doctors were kind, understanding and did ever ... ything they could to get me well. I really cannot thank the surgury enough for the support and care they provide.

Worst surgery I’ve ever known
Millwood I has not moved on from the time of Covid. Patient contact seems to be avoided. Online appointments only, so I described the chest pain I had had for over 3 weeks. I’d fallen on my left ribs, but felt that had got better and the pain I had now was alarming as it was in my heart area.
The totally impersonal message returned to me offered me a nurse appointment in two weeks. I was passing by so called in reception to question the clearly inappropriate triage decision judging by the app
... ointment offered.
“That’s the earliest available” I was told.
Interestingly for such a very overloaded practice, there were only two people in the waiting area.
So I went to ER, they did an ECG, vitals, listened to my lungs, my heart. Pressure applied to pertinent areas of my ribs.
The doctor said that he was confident my pain was still due to the injury I’d had and explained often this injury gets better but then returns and with more intensity.
My worry was appeased, the doctor said I was right to get it checked out.
I apologized for visiting ER for what was a minor complaint, but explained what my doctors surgery had done.
It’s like he said, the great NHS service is great until one entity in the chain drops the ball.
I returned to Millwood reception to cancel my appointment. Today around 1pm, there were 3 patients in the waiting room. This surgery is not heavily loaded.
Millwood: 19k patients and 10 doctors, 5 managers.
My last surgery was Magdelan in Norwich.
17k patients, 9 doctors and 2 managers. At Magdelan, I could phone to book an appointment, which was the same day, or within a few days if not urgent. They proactively booked me for check ups, medication reviews etc. I used to think why do people complain about the NHS?
Then I moved house, signed up to Millwood - now I understand.

Waiting to see doctor for 9 days now
Advised in writing by doctor to contact Millwood Surgery for an appointment to discuss abnormalities with recent tests.
Am still waiting some 9 days later and this is causing me stress as I am concerned about my problem.

Good communication
Got an appointment on Monday morning for the afternoon, I've got a follow up appointment booked and a referral to the Paget. Good communication and you can choose how they contact you through text or email.

Poor
So many problems.

They don’t answer the phone.
You never get an appt with a dr, always a nurse and always a telephone appt.

Fob you off when you are a woman or female.

Don’t actually want to get to the bottom of your problems, happy to let you suffer.

Misdiagnosed so many things for my family and myself.

Lots of times I’ve been told I will not be tested because what’s the point, even if I had the problem there is no cure…

I later manage to force a referral and I d
... id have PCOS and Ehlers Danlos.

Wasn’t told I had been diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos, went in for joint pain a year or so later and was then told.

Just awful service, they are trying to look good on paper, they don’t actually help anyone.

Not kept informed
Arrived today for what I thought was a nurse appointment to discuss abnormal blood results. Waited for 20mins, I could hear a patient being discussed as probably going to be told to rebook (unaware this was me) due to overrunning clinic. Took 5 minutes for anyone to call for me and inform me of delay and that it was a full health check appointment which only that nurse could do. I'd waited 4 weeks for the original blood test appointment, saw my abnormal results 2 days before anyone contacted me ... to tell me that officially. Had to wait another 4 weeks for this appointment. After 40 minutes I went to reception and said I really needed to be leaving and I was then told I'd have to rebook. I said I just wanted to discuss the results so they said they would 'try' to get a nurse to call me but it wouldn't be today. What a waste of my time on my day off work.
Tbf whenever I have needed to see anyone recently I have only been offered phone appointments... at the last one they thought I had been seen f2f and when I said I hadn't they said 'well you should be'..
I try so hard to just not need the service, my family have the same issues. My daughter can't get an appointment for her cervical smear test which is now way overdue and she's been trying for months. My mum had to wait 4 weeks for blood tests after a recent hospital discharge, they called her with what she thought were the results a few days later.. the phone only rang twice, no message left and it took her 2 hours to get back through to them only to be told to call the tests line the following day.. she did that and they said they'd never called her in the first place.

Never had any problems here
Never had any problems here. Very efficient. I book online, it's much better than the 8 o'clock rush.

The online system can be difficult
I'm a dementia nurse so I know how difficult it is for my patients to fill out the online form. I personally find it okay but my husband wouldn't know how to book an appointment so I do it for him. The staff are really nice, they're under pressure.

The system doesn't work
Today has been quick and Sammy who took my blood was brilliant. She did what I would expect and was excellent.
However, getting through on the phone is difficult you can be 102 in the queue and the call back system doesn't work. They don't call you back.
The only thing that seems to work here, is the repeat prescriptions.
The reception are under pressure and things need to change. The system needs to change. Since it's been grouped with Falklands Surgery it's terrible. I have seen a GP privat
... ely because I can't see a doctor here.
They are pressurising their staff because the system doesn't work.

Getting an appointment is difficult
No problems during my visit today but getting in is the problem. My boss helps me make my appointments sometimes because I can't do it online myself. To get this appointment I came to the surgery three times before I got it.
The call back system seems to work better and once you are here it is very good. The doctor is very good too.
