NHS England commissions primary care services for example GPs dentists and opticians. Although for GPs (primary medical services) this is devolved to most CCGs through primary care co-commissioning. NHS England also directly commissions ‘specialised’ services (such as treatments for rare conditions and secure mental health care) military and veteran health services and health services for people in prisons (including youth offender institutions). Some public health services are also directly commissioned by NHS England.

No NHS dentists
Moved here 2.5 years ago and haven’t been able to find an NHS dentist in Norfolk or any of the surrounding counties.

Was even prepared to travel back to the south coast to my original dentist but lost my place with them. The government is entirely to blame but they don’t care if we can’t afford to pay privately.

Cannot get an NHS dentist at all
I have been trying to register and get an appointment with an NHS dentist for years now, with a real focussed effort over the last year. I have tried well over 20 ranging from local to well over an hours drive away, but nothing.

The closest I have got is being offered to be put on a waiting list… which had 2000 patients on before my name was added! This is even more frustrating as I am pregnant and entitled to free NHS dental care, plus experiencing dental issues due to pregnancy… but I ju
... st can’t get this checked out! Private dental care isn’t really an option for me at this stage and really shouldn’t have to be the only option for anyone!

NHS Dental service
We moved to Thetford from Bury St Edmunds. There is no NHS Dentist locally as far as we know.

(We were patients for a limited time with a Dental Practice in Mildenhall whilst they received funding from NHS - which ceased about a year ago). So whilst a tooth gets more sensitive by the day, we are resigned to have to pay to go private.

NHS Dentist
I couldn't re-book my annual dental appointment in advance while at my current appointment because of imminent redundancy and the prospect of a new job and a new shift pattern, so missed the annual appointment the following year. Then Covid hit and dentists weren't open so I couldn't make an appointment.

I tried to make an appointment once they opened up and they said as I hadn't been for 2 years I had been taken off their NHS register. I can't get into any other NHS dental practice as they ar

Another Practice GONE PRIVATE
No NHS appointments available since February 2022. I have written to our MP George Freeman several times about this and have made formal complaints to NHS to no avail.

Like other reviewers I am appalled that 18,000 registered patients at Clarence House have no affordable dental care available. One ex-employee told me in confidence that Together Dental are only in it for the money and have no ethical compass in regard to their patients.

We 18,000 ignored patients are all taxpayers and deserve
... better. Mid Norfolk is already deprived enough why do the NHS fail to pay dentists enough through their contracts? The government is to blame for not sorting out contracts over the last three years.

This is a disgrace, I feel like I am wasting my time feeding back because no one really cares.

Dentist closed and need an app
Our dentist in Long Stratton closed. I can not find an appointment at an NHS dentist who can offer a sooner first appointment for my children less than 1 year away.

My children are 5yrs old and have only been to the dentist twice. My daughter is meant to have fluoride applied every 3 months which can only be administered by a dentist.

Her appointment is 11 months away.

In agony for weeks due to lack of NHS dentist
I am in acute dental pain and contacted my dental surgery on the 88 only to find that they closed due to going in to administration on the 5th August. I then went on 111 online and called every practice listed (even though none of them listed they were taking patients on) I then called 111 to ask what they could do, after several very lengthy call processes all they could do is give me two practice numbers to try, of course they also were not taking on.

I have been calling practices every day
... and the pain is getting worse, after being assessed repeatedly via 111 I can’t take any more medication than I already am.. All practices say is to call 111 again but repeating the process gets me no where.

It’s heartbreaking and so stressful. What else am I supposed to do? I simply cannot afford to pay private prices, if I do my family, including a 6 year old, won’t be able to buy food for a month.

So I’m left in pain with no end in sight. How is this fair when I should be able to get treatment for the NHS price when I am eligible? My family is being punished due to the government’s awful Dental contract and dentist’s refusing to work with it.

I know I’m not the only person left in this awful state.

NHS Dentist an Endangered Species
Since October 2021 I have been unable to find a dentist in Norfolk which accepts NHS patients. Regularly checking the find a dentist NHS website service has yielded no results.

Whilst NHS England have been sympathetic and responsive to the issue raised, they have not been able to offer a possible solution. I am not sure what this feedback will achieve, probably nothing, but in the meantime, I have resigned myself to buying a blender and eating only soft foods until I am able to secure a place
... with an NHS Dentist.
