Incredible after care
I had a radical prostatectomy and the follow-up care has been incredible from the registrar, consultant and my own GP. I have regular phone calls. I was also amazed that they told me it would be eight weeks until my surgery and it happened pretty much bang on the day.

Quick and lovely
I had a small bleed on my brain. It was a Saturday night and I got through A&E quickly. I had a scan and stayed three nights. The nurses were lovely and asked my son all about my usual behaviour.

Thorough tests but no follow-up
I've been to A&E four times with persistent, acute chest pains. I was on the cardiac ward for four days for assessment. The doctor stated I'd had an infarction and it's in my notes but there's no supporting evidence from the tests. I was made to have a stress test on my heart and it wasn't explained beforehand, I wasn't warned how bad it would be. The newly-qualified junior doctor was about to press the cannula when her superior suggested she tells me what's happening - all she said was "you're ... about to feel impending doom". It was horrific and incredibly painful. Being a nurse, I'm sure it's a gastro problem but as soon as they hear chest pains they insist on investigating that. I'm always cleared and discharged but I still experience the pains. I don't want to ask about it now as it's pointless. I can't fault the thoroughness of the investigations but it's when they discharge you, there's no follow-up.

Wonderful and sympathetic
I had an aggressive cancer and received two types of immunotherapy. The nurses and oncologist, Dr. Grey, were wonderful and sympathetic. In the middle of treatments I became unwell and had to be admitted but they responded quickly and were excellent. The oncologist checked on me on the ward and called me daily afterwards. So compassionate and understanding.

Too long for pain clinic
I had a scan with a physio after being referred by my GP last October and they recommended I see the pain clinic. I'm still waiting and I've been told it won't be until March 2026! I'm taking ibuprofen which I shouldn't be as I'm on blood thinners but I can't cope without it. I'm struggling every day.

I'd give it ten out of five!
Our family has had to use lots of different departments of the hospital from Maternity through to SDEC and they've all been brilliant, always.

Happy with PIFU
Once you've had an appointment with your consultant you can self-refer through PIFU if you have the same issue again within six months. And I always do! It's not because they haven't resolved it, it just flares up.

Good responses
Cardio are very good. I feel well-monitored and they respond quickly to queries about medication from my pharmacy.

Very good service
I went to A & E and I thought the service was very good. I was dealt with quickly and given an appointment to return the next day for an operation.
