Excessively Delayed Response from Adult Social Services to Referral
I was referred to Adult Social Services for a Care Act Assessment in January 2024. I did not receive any response until October 2024, by which time it was too late to be of any help.

Very supportive
My experience with them has been fantastic. I approached them for some advice over the telephone and they helped me in a timely and professional way.

We feel messed around
I feel like we've been messed around with the whole process from start to finish. They've told us that my childs needs fall under Social, Emotional, and Mental Health, but the statutory advice states cognition and learning is the main need.

They tried placing him in an SEMH placement against my parental preference and as a result we missed out on a panel for the placement we actually needed. I was also sent paper work with a different child's name and details on it.

The EHCP was sent to the
... wrong school. Our emails and phone calls are never replied to and when the school have asked them for support they never show up.

Slow, uncaring and much more concerned with their budget than the needs of those they're supposed to be caring for
I've given them as high a rating as I have because of their OT. She is incredible, and I'm so very grateful for everything she's done for me.

However, the inability for anyone else to communicate with each other or myself, to leave disabled people completely housebound and unable to access the community or health services, the incredibly low quality of agency care staff they employ, the amount of time they left a largely bedridden disabled parent without any support, and the extent to which I
... feel they don't care unless they feel they may be legally liable, is abhorrent. These people are the last people I would entrust the vulnerable to.

And when they realise they're doing something that's immoral and indefensible, they just stop replying to you.

Social Care is Norfolk's biggest problem
They should be minus 5 stars. Social Care is Norfolk's biggest problem and why the N&N is like it is.

So many patients come in here who have a Social Worker who doesn't appear to have done anything to have helped them and then when they're in hospital they drop them and it becomes our problem. They don't help people properly as they make decisions about our inpatients without ever seeing them and often ask for duplicated information.

The care homes seem like they're not regulated against pic
... king and choosing the easiest people to take. When somebody comes in here they refuse to take them back even if their care needs haven't changed.

We have no remit to push back to make them take the person so then they're stuck here for months waiting for a new placement.

Awful post adoption services
The management is really bad and lie all the time to cover up their wrong doing. Social workers do not write proper report and crucial information is missing.

When adopted parents make a complaint, the management, instead of looking properly into the problem, do nothing to resolve the situation because that will be admitting their wrong doing. So, instead of improve their services, the management decides not to investigate the issue, leaving adopted children without proper reports or later lif
... e letters.

The support received by this teammanagement is non-existent.

don't seem to be accountable for failings
Not one of them helped or supported but gaslighted, wagged their fingers made judgement. My child's MH is clouded by her perception which causes argument and outbursts - she hears voices.

My youngest has school phobia she's awaiting another ASD assessment because some stupid person decided school should be better qualified than a pediatrician who knows all the different ways it displays. I had a carers assessment and yet nothing came out of it I don't get respite.

I live in a village where t
... he gp is accessible through the phone atm. I have disabilities myself and feel judged rather than supported.

It can be very daunting having children with additional needs as the services don't seem to be accountable for failing to meet the needs of a child yet I as a parent feel like the scapegoat I'm exhausted all the time

Adult mental health personal budgets
It’s a nightmare, an absolute mess. I receive 6 hours of care a week, my current contribution for care is £53 per week (I live on benefits).

They send threatening letters when you can’t keep up with payments and I mostly cry every time my social worker emails me or the finance department write to me. I’ve asked over and over for them to contact my carers directly as it’s making me unwell and they ignore me.

My actual carers are fantastic, I’m really happy with my agency - but NCC
... aren’t fit to provide services for people with severe and enduring mental illness and complex needs - they don’t speak Service User. They’ve caused me more harm than good half the time.

Libraries are great
The library has been great. Having that bit of time for ourselves with the bounce and rhyme.

Been really easy how you can just pop in and drop books in. They adapted really well in lockdown.

They created bags of books and my kids got books we wouldn't have chosen usually so that was really good. The baby weighing is really helpful because there's nowhere else you can do that.

Ended up in A&E due to care crisis
I ended up in A&E as a direct result of the care crisis. I’m without carers, which meant I had to try to do something myself I’d never normally attempt.

In doing so my shoulder came out and I ended up in the ER. My care needs are now even higher as I’m a manual wheelchair user with just one functional arm.

This means I’ll be ringing out the emergency care service much more often.
