outstanding staff
I had an urgent eye health concern. I usually use Boots but no appointments available.

Specsavers saw me same day. I was there for a while whilst they ran several tests to thoroughly check my eyes and 4-5 members of staff attended to me.

Every single one was friendly, polite, professional, extremely competent and thoughtful. The optician was fantastic - the best I have ever seen.

Problems for Deaf patient
I had to ask a friend to write this, my language is British Sign Language and specsavers refuse to get a BSL Interpreter in. They ignore the Equality Act and NhS Accessible Information Standards.

My eye sight test is overdue because they won’t get an interpreter. .

I am worried about my safety and very depressed that they ignore Deaf people.

Refuse to make reasonable adjustment for Deaf
Several Deaf patients who use British Sign Language, have requested appointments with a BSL Interpreter. Specsavers refuse to supply and ignore the Equality Act and the NHS Accessible Information Standards.

They are required to make reasonable adjustment to allow disabled access, they offer to 'read aloud written material' use Google translate, or write information down. For profoundly Deaf patients who use BSL, how does any of this Help? Specsavers show a total ignorance and disregard for the
... se patients.

They have a legal duty to provide qualified registered BSL interpreters.

Why are still allowed to carry out NHS work!

Felt safe at routine app after COVID-19
As soon as they were able to reopen for routine appointments I got an email through to book an appointment for my eye test - which is really important for me since I have IIH so it's vital I get my eyes checked regularly. They have a number of a changes in store all of which were explained to me before I turned up - and I felt safe when I visited.

The staff were lovely and the sales assistant went above and beyond to help. The optician was very thorough and did a number of extra tests to make
... sure he was happy nothing had changed with my optic disks.

I cannot fault them. The experience was definitely different due to COVID-19 but I felt they had done everything they could to make sure staff and customers were safe.
