DISGRACEFUL
There were meetings held concerning neglect - my mother on certain shifts was not in bed, but left overnight in a wheelchair. She had marks to her head, arms and a developing pressure sore on her back. Meetings were had asking for assurance that she would be in bed. Comments were made that the recordings by staff were dishonest, and requests made for logging a photo each night, were declined by the Registered Manager. She also declined to provide for assurance that my mother would be in bed ... by a set time, 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. She appeared aware that there were acute gaps on particular shifts and that this was just ' part and parcel'.

As this was allowed to be the norm, further harms continued. Where there is neglect and negligent care, other forms of harms then appear. There were yet more marks upon my mother and ambulant men entering her room. In addition, males were attending to her alone, despite requesting female only care. She is largely immobile, dysphagic and lacking expressive language, but presenting with markings, bruisings, and cuts.

It would be appropriate to ask: why is your mother still here? Well, I was barred from the home on raising concerns with the police. By many people's standards my raising of concerns was moderate, when discussing the person, who gave you life and brought you into the world. A disgrace to humanity to enable this to continue.

There is a significant lack of oversight in this area, with the hope that a smiley manager will distract from the essence - this being the care of the residents, each and every day. Some excellent staff, but mingled within this, there are those who have the propensity to neglect and harm. Management find this to be an acceptable solution, as well as housing vulnerable people, aka my geriatric mother around men and with male care.
