Such at great help at a very difficult time.

I came across the Carers Matter stand at the NNUH last year. Shortly after my mother was discharged from NNUH I saw there was a carers event and in need of help and advice I went along. After our difficult experiences with social services while mum was in hospital my spirits were low and I wasn't sure which way to turn but thought it was worth a try. It wasn't long before I received a call from Carers Matter and it was such a relief to speak to someone who totally understood our situation and where I was coming from. To get the moral as well as practical support was hugely appreciated. After a tumultuous 12 years of caring for my mum with her complex health issues, I thought I could deal with anything but the point sometimes comes where you have to raise your hand and ask for help. Carers Matter gave such natural and empathetic support it was immediately like speaking to a friend who simply understood and was prepared to help. I am forever grateful for the help I was given and urge anyone who needs support to make that call.
