Excellent, timley and sensitive care
21st August 2024My daughter was treated by the Mental Health Crisis Support Team after a severe bi-polar manic crisis. She was referred to them after an A&E visit whilst visiting me so I could take care of her. The team visited her at home, discussed her condition and treatment openly with her full participation and after some discussion agreed upon the best medication. The doctor was available for phone calls afterwards and the team followed up with phone calls afterwards to see how she was doing. In three days she has had better care from this team than in ten years where she lives in the south of England. We are so grateful.

I would give it zero if it was an option
22nd January 2024It felt like they didn't want to help me until the knife was already in my back. I understand that they help other people but not me. I felt they didn't believe me. They did treat me respectfully but they didn't seem to hear or listen. My GP is really good though and they are the ones who have helped me the most.

Nightmare in Norfolk
30th August 2022Awaited assessment for 6 months following a mOve from hood services in Leics. 2 months more before assigned a care coordinator. After much ado I finally saw psych about my medication. After a slight adjustment I asked if this could be revisited. No response again and again. Referred to crisis team who refused referral. No reason given. My care coordinator is kind but either there is no back up behind her ( she’s on leave) or the rest are My ratings are on tge team as a whole, not her as I’m sure she tries. Complaints achieve nothing. My situation is almost certainly run of tge mill.

Terminal Diagnosis Given Over The Phone
9th March 2020My mother is under the Older Adults Team at Chatterton House. In 2019 she underwent a number of investigations after complaining of memory problems and word finding difficulties. In January 2020 my father who is in his 80s received a phone call from a nurse in the team informing him that my mother had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. He was then left to break the devastating news to her. Alzheimer’s is a terminal diagnosis and I’m appalled the team felt it was acceptable practice to give information of this gravity over the phone with no opportunity for discussion or support. Despite making a formal complaint the team at Chatterton house have made no attempt to make amends and offer my parents the support they need.

Being given wrong information
10th October 2019I came to Chatterton house in June to see a mental health nurse, I was told that I was being referred to a adhd clinic, I rang up and found out I have not been referred at all. I’m struggling to cope.

Bring back carer DVDs!
21st August 2019I went to one of the educational talks at Chatterton House around caring for someone with dementia. They spoke about aspects of care I had never even thought about, as well as how to get respite as a carer. They sent us off with these DVDs which were so useful, but they don't do them anymore. They should bring back these DVDs and educational classes.

Shouldn't have stopped carers classes
16th August 2019Chatterton House used to do courses for carers of older people with dementia, which were absolutely brilliant. They used to tell you all sorts of practical information, solicitors would be in attendance to give advice around power of attorney, and they even gave you a helpful DVD. They have unfortunately discontinued these classes, and it can be really difficult to find all this information elsewhere!

Inappropriate assessment
16th August 2019Chatterton house could do a home assessment for my elderly mother who has Alzheimer's. Instead they assessed her mental health on the phone, which isn't appropriate for someone with moderate Alzheimer's as she just tends to agree with every question due to her condition. For patients with such conditions they need to be doing face-to-face appointments.

Feel like a Guinea Pig
31st July 2019I am already using this service but I now have to go for another full assessment. I have been prescribed medication that I do not feel is appropriate and the side effects are a real issue. I feel my diagnosis is wrong and that no-one has the answers.
