Difficult to get appointment

It is very difficult to get an appointment even for ongoing conditions or injuries. Although I am retired, so can manage most times it can still take 2 or 3 weeks to see a doctor. It has currently taken 4 weeks to see my own doctor. Same day appointments (or 'sit and wait' as everyone calls them) are not always helpful as it is better to see the same doctor who initially saw you so you don't have to go through the problem all over again ending up with little time left. The way appointments are timed means that if you have more than one condition it can be extremely difficult to get a full picture of what is going on. In the past I have felt I had no option but to have a private consultation. I would like to see more early morning and evening appointments, which would help my husband who works long hours. Same day appointments mean he has to take half a day off work which he is reluctant to do. I am a big fan of the over 50's check ups but a lot can change in the time you wait for the next one. I would like the option of a check up after 2 years as well. I would be willing to pay a nominal fee for the extra check-up.
