Took a long time to be seen

In August I got injured but it took me until October to be able to see a Doctor. I had a few phone appointments with practice nurses but it took a while for them to offer me an in-person appointment. In the end I saw a physiotherapist privately who wrote a letter advising for a doctor to see me in person for a formal diagnosis. As soon as I was seen at the surgery they knew that I needed an operation. I decided to have the operation privately so needed a letter from the GP, but this took nearly 2 weeks to get this because the information needed wasn’t always right. It seems that if you’re a regular patient and the staff know your condition and they know what to do with you then you get good treatment, but me being new to the surgery I felt I was being pushed back and encouraged to just rest and recover even though I did actually need to be seen. I understand COVID is a problem and it’s more difficult to go in to surgeries, but it deferred my treatment into what became a more busy time for the NHS. I don’t want to complain as it’s a really busy time, but I just wonder how many people are waiting and their condition may be getting worse because it’s so difficult to see anyone
