Maternity

I had a traumatic delivery and my daughter was in the neo-natal ward for 4 weeks. I used the dolphin suite. The midwives were very caring and the consultants were good too. I have to say that some of the comments from staff about breastfeeding are random and sometimes contradicting. The communication between the ward I stayed and the neo-natal ward were not very good, there was some issues around her medication that I had to give her myself. I was on the ball, but if I weren’t it would have been a worry. I saw the same midwife pre-birth and she was excellent and it was very positive, she was very flexible which helped. We did have a birth plan, but it wasn’t written until 38 weeks, which we thought was late. Post-birth we saw a different midwife every time, and it was awkward because they don’t give you a time slot. They just tell you a day, and the times are random.
