Room for improvement

My father died here in January after being rushed to A&E. He had stayed at the hospital for several week's about a month previously. He was put on the surgical ward, then moved to the medical ward, then they said they couldn't treat him, then back to surgical. He was passed about quite a bit and I ended up speaking to the ward matron to get it sorted out. After 5 weeks he came out but a month later was rushed in again and died in A&E that night. This was back in January and at the beginning of August I receive a follow up letter asking me how everything was?! This is too long afterwards in my opinion, particularly given the nature of his time there. I understand they don't want to send things out to quickly when someone is grieving but to receive something this long after the event can be equally distressing when you're starting to move on. His general treatment was good but there is definitely room for improvement, just with the attitude of some staff for example.. I said that my father needed a shave and the auxillary just chucked me a razor and said 'you want him shaved, you shave him', which I did. I know they're under pressure but a softer approach would be better. I had another instance where I was trying to ring the ultrasound department and no one picked up. I was put through to reception and then bounced around 5 times. People were quite abrupt and there's no need for it, it wasn't my fault. I know its a pressured environment but people should be gentler.
