Making limited progress without consultant

I'm happy enough to be receiving any kind of treatment, but I am making limited progress due to frustrating operational issues at the hospital. Firstly, it is only the consultant that can prescribe medication, and due to the nature of IBD I often have to make changes to my medication. The nurses give me good advice to help manage it, but when there is a 3/4 month wait before I see a consultant it gets annoying. Although it takes a long time to see a consultant I am grateful that they have been able to offer me different medication and treatment; they seem to be exploring every avenue.
