Loss of money and waste of a day!

My partner had an appointment with one doctor, to be told she needed to see another doctor. Of course, can't book, they didn't know even if he was attending surgery, so have to wait till Monday to see if he is in. So we turned up at 8am to book Monday morning to be told he is only doing phone calls today! So my partner had to take a sick day to make this appointment/potentially seeing this doctor. She has lost money and a days work. We are very upset by this ridiculous set up, how do you not know when a doctor is in, let alone if he is working from home and only doing phone surgery? If a patient turns up 5mins late, it's the end of the world, but the patient can lose a day, no problem. Is this the service we can now expect?
