trying for weeks to make an appointmenrt

My husband and myself have been trying for a number of weeks to make an appointment for my elderly Mother in law. She isn't capable of making it herself. She had an appointment with a nurse last week, who was concerned about a few things and told us to get a memory test done by the doctor. Well a week later, phoning everyday and filling out forms online. We still can't speak to anyone, let alone get an appointment. The nurse was fabulous and did everything she could do, but the rest needs to be done by a doctor. Why we couldn't make an appointment whilst actually in the surgery last week is beyond me. This system is ridiculous. Phoning at 8am has resulted in getting to number 1 in the queue and then getting cut off. Not just once, but on a few occasions. My Mother in law needs to see a doctor, how hard can it be????
