Lack of NHS dentists Great Yarmouth

I’m writing to express my concerns about the lack of NHS dentists taking on new patients in Great Yarmouth. Throughout lock down my tooth got infected and no dentist would see me for an emergency appointment. I had to go to the James Padget hospital a&e department to have liquid morphine administered and antibiotics. I spent 5 days calling dentists to no avail. My neck and face was swollen to the point it affected my breathing, so I went back to a&e where they gave me a different type of antibiotic as the first set weren’t fighting the infection. I was then told by a&e staff that I would not be allowed back the have my tooth looked at as they aren’t dentists. They told me that if I start to struggle to breathe then I should get myself to the Norfolk and Norwich hospital. Luckily Plummers dentist gave me an appointment and removed my tooth. However I now can’t get my tooth replaced unless I pay privately for the service, I’m a full time support worker so I do not have that kind of money to pay the private fees. I have a huge gap in my teeth which is affecting my bite, so I can only imagine the teeth on the other side will now grind down due to chewing and then they’ll need replacing in due course. We need more dentists in Great Yarmouth to take on NHS patients asap. I can appreciate the backlog of patients due to COVID but we really need help here.
