Frightening experience

I had a pacemaker fitted and the surgeon clipped my lung. It was a very frightening experience. The possibility of this wasn't mentioned pre-surgery. Afterwards the surgeon apologised and told me the odds were 1 in 100 and I was unlucky. I had to stay in hospital and have lots of x-rays to see if it was healing. I was in an isolated room and there were patients with mental health issues shouting about killing people outside my room at night. It was frightening and I felt sorry for the nurses. The nurses were fabulous, amazing, I can't fault them. My bloods can be difficult to take but they never hurt me, I was so grateful. In my recent follow-up, the consultant didn't even acknowledge me or explain anything. There was no conversation with me, they had their back to me talking to their trainee. At the end I was told usually the next check-up would be in twelve months but they wanted to see me after six, however there was no reason given as to why. I don't need somebody to fuss over me but basic courtesy and clear information would have been good.
