Lack of LD awareness and hoists

My son is 17 and I've been working with the transitions team to coordinate my son's care but to date my experience isn't going particularly well. We went to an adult gastro outpatient clinic and there was no hoist. They weren't prepared for him and we ended up lifting him ourselves. The consultant was lovely though. They had his notes and paediatric wouldn't see him but they just weren't prepared for him and his needs. This was a planned appointment so I'm even more worried about what would happen if we had to take him in unexpectedly. It's difficult because he needs to play with baby toys and have music to calm him when he's there so that isn't going to work on a men's ward. He needs a room and for me to be able to be with him. There should be a separate ward for 16-25 year olds as this would be a bit more suitable. The hospital do have two disability nurses but they only work daytimes Monday to Friday which doesn't help at evenings or weekends.
