My dad was 84 and had a stroke in last year...

They took that long to treat him that he died. He was there 2-3 hours, had a bleed on the brain. He was triaged because of his age. We spent over 12 hours watching him die. It took too long to diagnose him. We could all see he was having a stroke, why couldn't they? I complained and spoke to the director of A&E but it was too painful for me. When they decided to just make him comfortable, they moved him to a ward where there was people with dementia. There were people awake and walking in during the night. Seemed unsuitable for his circumstances. Staff were very insensitive. As soon as he died, there was loads of paperwork shoved in our face and ushered out the door. We were totally numb, just lost lost my dad. I was dumbfounded by the lack of compassion. I did complain about this too. It's down to staffing and funding. I don't believe anyone wants to let someone die but it comes down to prioritisation.
