Not been very helpful with my eyes

I'm 90 something and I struggle with my vision so I went for a eye scan. They said all I can do is keep getting me eyes tested for 'health reasons' but there was nothing they could do to make them any better. The advice I've got from N&N, Beccles hospital, James Paget and my Doctors about my cataracts has been different. My local doctors told me to leave them because it could make things worse so I've just stopped going to the hospital altogether. It's hard though because I can't read anything and I need my neighbours help when I get letters in the post. I have audible books and they're good but I still can't read important things.
