Good - limited food for gestational diabetes

They've been really good in maternity services. I've got gestational diabetes and it's difficult trying to control this on the hospital food. I haven't been given any other options and, for example, the breakfast tends to be sugary cereals and if you don't get off to a good start in the mornings it difficult to continue feeling well. The fresh stuff is the same every day so there is very little variety. If you have a specialist diet it is quiet difficult to manage on the hospital food. Consistency in care is important to me. It can be frustrating if you see someone different and hear something different. It's also important to be treated like an individual. It was really good because the hospital let me set a date for my delivery and really listened to me about my pregnancy. Knowing we had a date to work to has really helped so even though I'm in the hospital for the end of it, I know I have my delivery date to work towards. The ward is quite clean but they can't get everything. I've seen the cleaner come round regularly but it's probably more of a service clean, they don't move things and do a more intensive clean.
