Health records not compatible with Suffolk

Last year I moved from Suffolk to Dereham, where I was hoping to continue some physiotherapy treatment I had been receiving from West Suffolk hospital. After an initial appointment with my GP, he referred me to a community physio in Dereham. The physio needed to see scans from my x-ray in order to understand what treatment I required, but was unable to as the digital record of my x-ray was not compatible with their systems. I ended up having to get in touch with West Suffolk hospital myself, and request the image to be burnt on to a disc. This whole process took months - surely in this day and age it is possible to have a shared patient record between counties?
