Named contacts for LD

Not having an identified social worker when you call the learning disabilities (LD) team can be difficult. It means you never know who you're going to get or what they will know about your situation. Knowing the right number to call would be a good start but having an identifiable person would be really helpful for when you're having problems trying to navigate the system - particularly if you're already stressed. I have the right numbers because of my work but for the average parent going through the front door it's not that easy. When you get through to the right people there is a real willingness to help and support and I've found that since my daughter became an adult there has been lots of support available to help her become independent. I know for a lot of people its the other way round. I never really had any support from Children's Services, particularly when I really needed them.
