Played around for 6 months
13th October 2017I was played around for 6 months in regards to respite care. I had an initial assessment, they told me it would be reviewed within 6 weeks. Wasn't reviewed for nearly 6 months, I am only able to leave the house one day a week. Respite care was finally organised, but not very well. I was due to have a review in July, and only just received the review now, in October.

Unprofessional
13th October 2017I support a lady who has a son with autism. Norfolk County Council came to give a carers assessment. She bombarded the son with questions so much to the point that he had a panic attack. They refused to work with him until he takes anti-depressants, there was no alternative offered. She insisted that the mother should be able to force the son to take anti-depressants, it was unprofessional. He's now 18 and needs adult social care but is scared of social workers.

Went the extra mile
5th October 2017My husband had a terminal diagnosis and wanted to spend his last days at home. The lady I spoke to was amazing. They would normally just take your details and someone would get back to you at a later date, but she quickly realised that time was not on our side and she kept me on the phone while she ran around and sorted everything out, there and then. The very next day I had both respite and night care. I'm very grateful to her.

NCC failing disabled children and young people
14th September 2017Children social services RAS questionnaire has some safe guarding issues with. Parent carer assessment not being done and EHCP taking too long to complete or when finished are not fit for purpose. Services only cater to extreme high needs families and not enough being done to implement C&F act 2014.

Nowhere for kids to go
25th August 2017My foster daughter has been waiting for counselling through CAMHS since December and I've had to repeatedly take her to the doctor just to prove she needs it. There is nowhere for kids to go. No CAMHS in schools. There used to be in-school support, while you waited for the external service, but now there's nothing. Feels like something terrible has to happen before you can get seen. Thankfully she's not suicidal.

My daughters got special needs and is OCD
21st August 2017The social services, who I haven't heard from in ages, sent a trainee psychologist to assess my daughter and I told him to get lost. I wanted a professional. They never found a place for my daughter locally. They wanted her to go to Holt day centre. The sessions were £80 and the taxi there and back cost £40, it's ridiculous. She can't go to the day centre on Ipswich road as it's not suitable for her. My daughter didn't like the people there anyway.

Unreliable service
4th August 2017My husband was bed ridden and needed care to be washed and dressed, including other daily basic activities. The social services were never on time or even bothered to show up at all on several occasions.

Treated unfairly
4th August 2017I was going through a divorce when my wife made up a lie about me, which caused social services to say that I wasn't allowed to see my boy. Eventually, it came out that she was lying, so I was allowed to see him again. No action was taken against my wife or did I receive a apologise from social services. I just know if it had been me that lied, I would of received a punishment for my actions.

Norfolk adoption services
4th August 2017Really disappointing support following adoption and through adoption support contact. Support is non-existent.

I’ve had major issues with my personal budget
4th August 2017You’re supposed to have a personal budget review every year but a year came and went and I hadn’t had mine. I shouldn’t have had to but I called them up and they said to carry on as I was. They called me back in May, months later, saying that I’ve been over paid as my respite no longer supported funding anymore. They told me that I owed them thousands. I have stress causing epilepsy and this has been extremely stressful. There’s not enough communication from them.
