I like my room

I've been here around a year and I've got the best room in the place, I can see the school kids play on the grass. A lot of the things in the room are from my home. I do like it here except for when the dementia ones start screaming at night but you can't change that. The staff can't help that, they just have to guide them back to their beds. It can take them a long time to come in the night after I've pressed the buzzer when a resident with dementia has come in and the person has gone by the time they get here but that can't be helped. You just have to be gentle with the person and kind to the staff. The staff are very good, they're just a bit over-run. Sometimes you have new ones and I try to help them by telling them where everything is. The food's OK. I've got diabetes so I have to trust that it's OK for me as at home I used to read all the labels but I've had my eye checks recently and I'm all clear so it must be under control. I prefer to be in my room in my own space rather than in the lounge but I do like to be taken down when the school children and babies visit. I miss cuddling babies. I like going to the seafront when I go out with my children. I like the singing when people come in and it would be nice to have that more often. I'm glad they've moved on from singing the old wartime songs now!
