Damned if you do, damned if you don't.....

Bank holiday Sunday - eye injury. Husband and I both work for NHS - very aware of challenges, so treated injury with analgesia, cool compress and time. BH Monday afternoon eye still very painful, called 111 very helpful but advised a&e. Still not prepared to add to pressure on a&e waited to call GP this morning. GP not impressed he said I should have gone to A&E but they suppose they can see me to save sitting in A&E for 4 hours (go figure..!) Saw another GP this morning - diagnosed torn cornea so she prescribed eye drops and I am all sorted. She also called eye clinic who agreed her treatment was totally appropriate. So, I didn't need A&E. Hospital avoidance? I seem to be committed but perhaps our GPs need more out of hours support to keep us out of hospital?
