    Wasting NHS time and resources.

I have a lower limb that has needed regular wound care as I have PVD. My left leg below the knee is purple and every time my leg takes a knock it breaks out into a ulcer which as you know takes time to heal. I need to keep the wound clean and dry for the duration of the wound. I have had this problem for a good few years now and have always since the beginning been told to come to the surgery and collect the dressings to treat the wound myself as this happens at least 2 times a year if not more. I have seen numerous nurses over the years and they all treat the wounds the same. Inadine non adherent gauze covered with a swab and held in place by yellow-line tube dressing as I can't have sticky plaster. When the wound stops leaking I then use the Atrauman gauze until the wound calms down. then I remove all dressings and let the wound dry out. I have just been told by your receptionist that I now need the items put onto my repeat script as you aren't treating the wound. So instead of you leaving the dressings out for me to collect I now have to waste a nurses appointment today so I can get the dressing that you have been supplying for years. This don't make sense to me and all you go on about is wasting NHS time and money. This is a prime example. If the wound was a bad wound I would of course come see you or the Hospital but as the majority are just superficial wounds I treat myself to help stop some of the waste. Everyone blames the patients for hoarding/wasting meds. The NHS should look closer at it's self.
