Very kind staff, would like to go out more

It's lovely in some ways. They're very kind here but there's not always time for a chat although they are willing when they do have time. It's wonderful to have people popping in and out making drinks for you and the food is wonderful, they do some lovely recipes with good quality ingredients. I like reading in my room. My family brings me books and the staff are always willing to lend. I go downstairs sometimes but you're limited with people you can have conversations with because of the dementia. They've had volunteer gardeners and people have donated lovely window boxes, they've got some beautiful roses by the front door. I do love gardening, I used to do that a lot in my home. I have done it here but when they're short-staffed you can't go out. I really do like to be outside and go for walks so I would like to do that more. It's been a while since I could because the staff have been on holiday or new ones are being trained. We used to go out to the church and we have a Minister come in for special occasions which is lovely. We have had different visitors doing things with us. We've had some wonderful singers of all different types of music - music always lifts your spirits. There is a board downstairs that tells you what is happening but the lady who organises things is not here. I struggle to sleep at night as it can be noisy with residents shouting and doors banging. Sometimes I can sleep but I have nightmares which I think is my medication. If I need anything I can ring my buzzer but I don't like to worry them, but they pop in every now and then to check on me anyway. Most things are fantastic but it would be good to sleep more and have a routine, and have things to do in the day. I like my room - it's bright and I have a lovely view of the trees where I can watch all the different wildlife.
