Poor mental health services

Initially I self-referred to the Wellbeing service as advised by my GP due to depression at the start of September 2015. Upon doing this the first consultation/ assessment I had with the service was very quick, but unfortunately this didn't last! I was advised to attend a group session for 4 weeks on CBT therapy despite personally wanting some, one to one counselling to help me specifically. At this point on my journey I was in a very poor frame of mind and was told I could attend a group session in 3 weeks time. Then in the post I received a letter with my PAC-Q score and Anxiety scores detailing my score but no further information as to what this meant! (Good or bad scores) so I resulted to Google and sure enough it was very simple to find. I attended each of these 2 hour group sessions expecting them to really help and be small groups. I couldn’t have been further from the truth I turned up to a room of at approximately 50 people which was a shock. I found the sessions very tedious particularly due to the way it felt you were just talked at. During these 4 weeks I enquired about more one to one support and was told I could be put on a waiting list, but never heard anything further. The 4 weeks passed and by now we were on 20th October 2015 and at the last session I was asked what further support was needed and I enquired about some more therapy and was told someone would be in touch. We are now on 26th February when I received a letter to say they had made a telephone appointment to discuss further support I needed. 4 months had passed with no support, no contact at all. Thankfully I was very well support by my GP surgery but I could have been in far worse off without this help. To top off I rang in to cancel this appointment as I no longer needed support as I never heard from them in 4 months so had to get support elsewhere. I did so and yet a therapist still rang me for that appointment. This lack of communication is ridiculous. I think this is just unacceptable when it comes to mental health and I was constantly offered delayed and inappropriate support and therefore will not be using this service again.
