outstanding staff
I had an urgent eye health concern. I usually use Boots but no appointments available.

Specsavers saw me same day. I was there for a while whilst they ran several tests to thoroughly check my eyes and 4-5 members of staff attended to me.

Every single one was friendly, polite, professional, extremely competent and thoughtful. The optician was fantastic - the best I have ever seen.

Rude unhelpful staff
On arriving no one acknowledged I was even there, eventually spoken to and initial tests carried out, taken up to see optician who was ver pleasant and informative. He told me I could go back down and wait and he would bring new prescription down, whilst waiting in the shop a member of staff said to her colleagues what is she doing down here didn’t she even wait to be seen, never looking it speaking to myself.

The option suggested coating the glasses but in seeing a member of staff she said
... that’s strange why would you want to waist £35 on that.

In collecting my glasses last Saturday the boy I saw laid them out and said what colour case do you want no checking they fitted or anything, do not think I will be returning

A great service with great workers
The staff here have due me my glasses and my partners for a few years now with attention to details necessary for glasses , very meticulous and focussed on ensuring the correct glasses are required with humour and clear knowledge of what to do to ensure they get it right. Mainly the lassies I have had are always helping and helpful with an honest answer when asked about do they suit me.

During covid always following best practice with sanitising etc and patient. We’re able to address any iss
... ues if glasses were not perfect being able to go through processes to ensure I had the correct positioning of the lenses with varifocals.

We are lucky to see a stable team there despite the obvious pressures behind the scenes and having to adjust to Covid and it’s implications. I would be happy to have them on a ward as part of my team.

Ear syringing
I went for first visit and told to put oil in my ears for a week. Charged £47 and told it would cover next visit, which to be fair it did.

BUT told at second visit he couldn’t syringe as wax too deephard so nothing done. The ear is very painful.

The two visits only took a maximum of 10 minutes. No refund.

GP has referred me to specialist. Hopefully all will end well.

I must be fair to Specsavers I have found their eye testing and glasses very good but their “ear” department is terrible

Deaf refused an interpreter
As. Deaf patient whose first language is BSL, it is my right under the Equality Act to have a BSL Interpreter, the NHS Accessible Information Standards also states my preferred language should be used Specsavers refuse to get a BSL Interpreter in.

They insist on using a virtual interpreter via an iPad. So while my eyes were being tested they had another member of staff holding an iPad up, their arms ached so then the iPad slid out of my view.

The interpreter on screen couldn’t see because
... of the lighting and I couldn’t see them either. Changing focus from my eye test to squinting at an iPad cross the room gave me an awful headache.

Specsavers refuse to meet my needs. Impossible.

I have a friend writing this for mad as I use Sign Language.

Problems for Deaf patient
I had to ask a friend to write this, my language is British Sign Language and specsavers refuse to get a BSL Interpreter in. They ignore the Equality Act and NhS Accessible Information Standards.

My eye sight test is overdue because they won’t get an interpreter. .

I am worried about my safety and very depressed that they ignore Deaf people.
