Staff were great
29th January 2018My child ran into another child in the playground and her two front teeth were hanging out. We went straight to A&E who sorted them out for her. They said it should've really been a dentist but they were great and sorted it.

Quick referral and staff are lovely
29th January 2018I visited the Radiology department this morning after a quick referral which was made by my doctor for an MRI. The staff were lovely, explained things well and gave me opportunities to ask questions. I was seen quickly and reassured at all times including given a button to press if I wanted them to stop the MRI. Great experience, thank you.

Care on the Day Assessment Unit
25th January 2018Whilst pregnant with my daughter in July 2017 I had several visits to the Day Assessment Unit. All of the staff were excellent. In particular, one was amazing. She was so supportive and the level of care she provided always went above and beyond my expectations.

Excellent
23rd January 2018I was referred to Sandringham Hospital as an NHS patient and find the service excellent. Regular blood tests at the hospital. I also had my prostate checked, all fine.

Poor
23rd January 2018I had a horse riding accident which caused me a delayed concussion and whiplash so I went to A&E and have to say that because I was walking wounded – I was made to feel like I was a nuisance. I didn’t have to wait long as it was in the morning, but I definitely felt there was a lack of information provided to me in my care. I was given a neck support and made to lay on a bed and was told I would go for an x-ray. I was left laying on the bed for some time and no one told me what was going on. I felt very isolated. I was offered morphine, which I’ve never taken before and it made me feel really sick, which laying down with a collar on, didn’t feel very safe. I told the nurse I was feeling sick and she didn’t even lay me on my side, just said that morphine could make you sick. Why was I not told this? I asked about anti sickness drugs and she said they don’t normally give those out. I was eventually discharged and would have gone home covered in my own vomit, if not for another nurse who found a spare t-shirt for me to wear, for which I was very grateful.

Bad aftercare
23rd January 2018On the whole my experience hasn’t been bad and they have generally been quite good for what I’ve needed but 4 months ago I underwent surgery to correct a deformity, which required a total knee replacement in Orthopedics. The surgery itself was fine but the after care and information provided to me was absolutely diabolical. I was only given 3 appointments for physio therapy at the community hospital and the surgeon did not explain fully about my operation either before or after it. So there was a real lack of information provided by the Orthopedics department in my opinion. I’m still in a lot of pain and now receiving further treatment. I’m self employed so I’ve had no income for 4 months. Thankfully my husband has been supporting me otherwise I’d be destitute. If I’d have known how complex the surgery was and the extent of it – I wouldn’t have had it done. I was led to believe it was a standard knee replacement. You don’t expect to come out worse than you went in. The literature I was provided with all just related to a standard knee surgery, but clearly my situation was not standard. The nurse just checks you over, books you 3 physio appointments and tells you to come back in 3 months and the surgeon was only concerned with the mechanics of it. There was no information on how to cope with the pain and what to expect. People a lot older than me with arthritis recover a lot quicker. If I had to do more work to aid my recovery, then fine – but I need to be told that. I definitely needed a lot more information to learn how to live with it.
