I sent an econsult on Thursday the next day I had a telephone consultation with a doctor . I have a recurring problem which was dealt quickly many thanks .

I was offered an appointment a month after my econsult, which was upsetting and worrying but I did specifically request Mel as I have seen her before and she was fantastic. I was very worried by the time I saw Mel but she put me at ease (she hugged me twice, never underestimate the power of a hug), and was very though. She even took my blood for the tests she wanted to carry out there and then (and missed her tea break) , rather than make me wait for a further appointment or to have to go to the hospital. She was absolutely fantastic and whilst I am still worried whilst I await the results of my tests, she reassured me as much as she could.

Whilst I understand that waiting for a period of time for an appointment is frustrating, if the clinician requested, has annual leave or full clinics, it can make it more difficult to get in to see them. I phoned the practice yesterday afternoon because I’ve had a UTI for a few days. I was told I needed to PURCHASE a sample pot from the pharmacy. (I ended up having to spend more than five pounds as that was the minimum card spend) I was advised to go to the walk in centre as there were no available appointments. As a 69 year old woman living alone I have no one to take me and the UTI has made me incontinent which led to a very embarrassing incident a few yards from my house so I couldn’t risk taking a bus into the city. I arrived at Thorpewood surgery this morning to drop off the sample only to be told that it needed to be decanted into a pot which was provided free of charge by the surgery. I told the receptionist that I was passing blood clots and had lost control of my bladder the previous day but she said that samples are not tested until lunchtime. While I was queuing in reception the receptionist was telling each person who needed an appointment that only one doctor was on duty and a patient who needed to see a nursing practitioner had to wait for four weeks to be seen. I am still waiting for feedback from my sample and am waiting in some discomfort as well as being afraid to leave the house for fear of another bout of incontinence. This is very worrying.

The care I have received from this surgery has been incredible.
From myself to my daughters.
They've helped my eldest daughter in many ways making her better and supporting her as well as myself. She never would put a footstep in a GP untill a special bond & trust was made. My youngest daughter received top quality care which resulted I'm saving her life by his actions and ability and knowledge.
Reception team work incredibly hard, they don't get a break
The pressure they receive daily is more than anyone would realise.
I honestly wish there was more stars to rate them against.

I recently requested medication for a symptom flare of a number of long term conditions. A really good receptionist (Carly) did her utmost to ensure my request was seen by a clinician despite a lack of appointments/clinical staff. The surgery seems to have taken a battering during the pandemic, but now seem to be getting back to full strength.
