Awful management and treatment of clients
I had carers come to me twice a day, plus a 5 hour social slot where I could go out for the day (the only time I ever got to leave the house) & I was a client for over 2 years. I'd had a work accident where I'd damaged my lower back & could only walk with a crutch & was in constant pain. I also have bdp & I am bipolar which the agency were aware of & this was written on my care plan, along with my disability. I struggled a lot meeting lots of new people, esp needing personal care & I'd asked a l ... ot of times tot hem, please can I just have a handful of regular carers that I can become comfortable with. This affected my mental health no end because I was given the new carers a lot of the time & then i was told 'well you don't need care that bad then do you' when I had to decline having certain carers because I was too anxious to meet them. In the last yea of my care I was being gossiped about by the carers and id been told the rumours was that I was a drunk. This turned out to be undiagnosed type 2 diabetes & I was actually on the verge of going into a diabetic comas, but not one of the many carers who gossiped saying I was drunk & slurring my words thought, hang on, maybe its a medical emergency.
I had a scolding cup of tea spilt on me, badly burning my crotch & thigh, & then after reporting the carer I was told by the manager to 'give her a chance, she's new. I also had the manager telling me she couldnt come & do my tea call as it was her husbands birthday & she wanted to take him out for a meal. They would do the school runs for my daughter (who was 9) & would also have her son in the car. Theyd speak in another language & not speak to my daughter at all, & she would feel really awkward. I asked the manager if she could speak english in the car but I was ignored. I was told by my adult social worker that Riseup had given me 2 weeks to find another agency. I tried to ask what had I done wrong? All calls & emails were ignored. I ended up trying to take my life!
