Father had a suspected heart attack…ambulance arrived within 10minutes of ending the emergency call…paramedics were great and reassured us he would be taken to Norfolk and Norwich hospital on blue lights as confirmed it was a heart attack…Told us the care he would be given and that he should be seen and treated by 10am …950am he was in recovery following surgery…Nothing but praise for the 3 person paramedic team …Thankyou so much and keep up the excellent service you provide.

Today I experienced just how special our ambulance service is. My elderly neighbour had a fall and a very nice paramedic called Steve turned up to see what he could do. He was great both with the patient and the situation.

My 98yr old mum fell and complained of leg/groin pain ..
A call was immediately made to Norfolk Ambulance Service .
A broken leg was suspected by carer. (mum was in a care home 5 mins from Norfolk & Norwich University Hopital.)
Call handler said “do not move her”
7hrs later the ambulance arrived!!.
By now mum had laid over 7hrs and was struggling with breathe..
She died within 3 days (pneumonia) and yes her femur was fractured and possible a broken arm .
Nobody should have to suffer line this.

I collapsed in my garage and suspected that I'd had a mini stroke. I called 111 and told them I was alone. As soon as I had hung up the first responders arrived, then as they were dealing with me an ambulance arrived right away. I very much appreciated it. Telling them that I was living by myself made the world of difference.

I had to wait five and a half hours for an ambulance, as I wasn't urgent - it was a broken bone not a heart attack or anything which I understand. Once I got the gas and air I was put on a board by a great team of paramedics, I had 2 hours in an ambulance at the hospital and a bit of a longer wait after that but was very well cared for at all times

Releasing emergency crews

My daughter-in-law has a shoulder which dislocates from time to time. Because of having a baby, then covid, she has not had the surgery she needs. On Wednesday night it dislocated and would not go back in. She was in lots of pain. 111 advised her it would be 338minutes for a call back. Again she tried to self manage but with no success. On calling 999 she was advised it could be 10hour wait for an ambulance. She was able to mobilise this time, so I decided to take her to A&E. Remarkably, the shoulder popped back in enroute to the hospital!
On reflection she didn't need an emergency vehicle and she didn't need A&E. A first responder vehicle with gas and air may have been able to resite the shoulder at home and then I could have taken her to a walk in xray clinic or by appointment.
I'm sure there are some simple ways we could free up services and help relieve some of the pressures.
Called 999 and they were outside in no time! They sat outside for two hours - carrying out lots of tests and giving advice and checking everything was okay.
They were just incredible.
