I'm not one for leaving reviews but, after joining the surgery a few years ago, the care has been excellent. The 3-4 times that I've used the surgery, I've always been able to get an appointment. Dr Grice has been brilliant with every visit. She takes time to listen effectively, is calming, and treats you with respect. She actions referrals promptly and an all round excellent Dr and team. The healthcare assistants have been brilliant, too. Nothing is an issue and they go above and beyond. Considering the pressure on services, it works like clockwork. Well done.

What a lovely review, thank you.
It's always a pleasure to receive feedback, particularly when it is positive.
I will share this with the team and encourage them to continue to do a good job.
Thanks again.

What Can I Say?

My first doctor for whom I had great respect told me that I might live until Christmas after I was diagnosed with Heart Failure and COPD. That was two years ago. I had an ECG but there was a problem apparently with the print out, I then went to see the hospital consultant for a heart echo. He was concerned about the spikes in the print out and did another one. I was then informed that everything was fine. I kept having breathing attacks and was taken to hospital where I was informed that I had not received the correct medication after my previous heart attack.
I changed doctors. I couldn't go out so the next doctor rang me. I didn't hear the phone and she left a voice mail saying she would ring in two weeks. Five months later she still hadn't. I changed doctors and spoke to him once. A nurse rang for me to come in for a blood test. I patiently explained that I can't breathe in the cold air and finally gave up.
I know it's partly my fault because I'm not the pushy type and if I can manage then I will but I sometimes think that it would be nice if someone actually cared whether I lived or died.

My mum went to visit the Doctor Friday 21st July who was very thorough and asked for mum to get some blood tests done so they could check what treatment is required
I went to reception to book up the blood tests for Mum the receptionist was delightful very cheery and helpful. There was a young Nurse who was there at the time and said to save Mum having to come back she would do the tests for her then. The young Nurse Claire was very thorough, very kind, very pleasant, very professional she made my mum feel so relaxed. You are lucky to have such a valuable member of your Team. Great Massingham Surgery Staff are always very pleasant and cheery. Please could you pass my comments on to Claire.

Up until now I would’ve given Great Massingham and Docking surgery 5 star reviews, all the staff and doctors are wonderful, caring and kind, especially Dr Hall, Dr Dorling and Dr Kerrs, the best doctors a surgery could ask for, they always listen and treat us with the greatest respect. The doctors listen and we listen, it was a wonderful practice to visit up until last week.
We went to see a different doctor, it was one of the worse experiences if not the worse within the NHS we have ever experienced. The consultation wasn’t that long but it left my hubby visibly shaken and when he got back to the car he shook uncontrollably, the doctor had made him feel much worse, it was shameful. I can’t believe that anyone else at this surgery realises what this doctor can do. The meeting started well, the nurse met us first as was very polite and then she told us to wait for the doctor. The doctor came into the room and was friendly, everything was fine. Unfortunately it didn't last long. The doctor looked at hubby notes before she came into the room and she had already decided on a plan of action before she spoke to us, not everything is on the notes, some very important information was never detailed on my hubbys notes. The doctor did speak to me politely and then hubby but hubby was struggling and asked me to help him and this is when it went badly wrong. I was informed that I like to butt in, many times that word was used against me. The doctor was very angry and heavily criticised us especially me to the point it felt like being abused, it didn’t feel normal, it felt something was very wrong. Through all this I trod on eggshells as it didn’t feel like a good idea to defend myself so I kept saying ok. However when she finished and told us to go to another doctor I said I hope you don’t mind me saying this but I think you have gone over the top and we’ve been coming to this surgery for many years and no other doctor has treated us or said the things you just said, I was then informed by the doctor well there you go then. I would advice anyone dealing with this doctor to take a recording device so you can back up what is spoken to you just in case you find yourselves in the same situation.

It is a shame you felt that you had to publicise your experience before raising it with the Practice Manager or following the complaints procedure.
Without knowing the full details I cannot take this forward, but if you would like to contact me directly or raise a complaint, I can then investigate accordingly.

The desk staff are very friendly. But it is not good practice to expect local people with serious mobility problems to attend the surgery instead of receiving a visit.

Thank you for your comments. We do provide home visits to patients on the grounds of medical needs and this would be assessed by a doctor. I am happy to discuss this with you if you would like to call the surgery and ask for Ruth Harris.

There are some niggly things at times but overall it's quite good. I needed an appointment for my husband and couldn't get to see a doctor. We had to call an ambulance later on that day. The ambulance crew told us my husband needed antibiotics. The GP then came and saw us the next day. The clinic today was good.

Thank you for your comments.
We do have "on the day" appointments each day for any urgent matters but they usually get booked up very early in the day. I'm happy to discuss this further if you wish.
Everyone is helpful.
