Wonderful service

It's a wonderful service, the doctors and receptionists are lovely. It's a nightmare trying to make an appointment, sometimes you have to call several times. You get good service when you get in though. I always have a good laugh with the nurse.

Seeing a doctor for follow up/ seeing doctor

I’m a type 1 diabetic, and have other health issues I finally get a appointment start a plan with my doctor then doctor wants to see me in a month so I try to sort it and can’t get to see him again, instead I have another doctor from another surgery call me and dismisses me and tells me my issue is totally different and it’s down to my diabetes, which already established it isn’t. Then I ring/email for my son who needs antibiotics to wait nearly 12 hrs for a call back to get a message at 19:59 one min before close to be told I have to ring as doctor isn’t available through the online system, Martham surgery is turning into a total joke!!!

I visited the nurse here today and the service was fantastic. I was fitted in here because the nurse at my usual surgery was off sick.

I called Hemsby surgery today and they were able to facilitate an appointment here at Martham. The nurse today was very good.

Awful dismissive reception staff

After usually waiting about 10/15 mins for an answer I have never ever found the reception staff at this surgery to be in any way polite, understanding or helpful, they can be very abrupt, rude and dismissive.

Diagnosed & prescribed medication over phone

It's hard to see a doctor. I suffer from anxiety and they diagnosed me and prescribed me prescription medication over the phone. It made me worse. Only managed to speak to someone at one stage by going through my diabetic nurse. I go for regular bloods for my diabetic checks which are okay. They are 3 weekly appointments so can't always book my next one when I'm there so then I have to contact them to get my next one booked in. You just can't seem to get an appointment with a doctor. When you see a doctor they're great. Dr Honney is very good phoned me within 20 minutes once. The front desk can be difficult and they want to know what you want to see them for. They want to know more than is needed. I don't understand how I can take someone up there with the Good Neighbourhood scheme where I volunteer but I can't get an appointment. They have paramedics and pharmacists - and it's far easier to see them than it is a doctor. Doctors are very good if you can see them. I've been having trouble with my ear and have to go to the hospital because the surgery don't deal with it. I am waiting to get to see ENT but they have a long waiting list. I just think you should be able to call and arrange to see a doctor. Hopefully getting an appointment in a month's time. It doesn't seem to work like that.

Difficult to see doctors, offer less services

The first bookable appointment is in March – otherwise you have to call at 8am for a same day appointment. I’d say they haven’t got the staff. Just haven’t been able to see a doctor. I’ve been quite severely ill and how can you diagnose something over the phone? There are people there who are trying to be helpful. Dr Honney is very good, young, keen and wants to help. We do tend to lose good doctors quite often though.
It's a massive surgery but they don’t offer a lot of services they used to anymore. They don’t offer footcare for people with diabetes, they don’t offer ear syringing and eye screening for people with diabetes has changed too. There’s lots of rooms at the surgery but it definitely feels underused.

Sent round between surgery, 111 and pharmacy

Phoned the surgery wanting to speak to someone and was told to call 111. Called 111 and was sent to the pharmacist. Went to the pharmacist and they sent me to the surgery and then I got told off by the surgery for going there and the pharmacy got told off for sending me there. My problem never got seen to either.

Rude unhelpful

Tried to contact the surgery in Martham About my father who is in great discomfort and pain to arrange a visit and some care. Unfortunately no interest in Welfare only in their protocols. Reception staff were very defensive and unhelpful. I’m sure things would be different if it was one of their family and Protocols would have no relevance to them. I begrudge giving one star!!

They are generally helpful but today I have had an issue. I was sent a telephone message which did not explain fully how to access an appointment and meant I had to make further enquiries wasting my time and theirs to get an appointment.
