Dear Patient We recognise that our patients at the Branch site have had to put up with closures during the past few years and understand the frustrations caused. I hope you will realise that the decisions have been based on careful risk assessments, and consultation with our Patient Participation Group. COVID has had a major impact on all decisions taken, initially as advised by NHS England we had to ensure we had appropriate and robust Infection Prevention Control measures in place at our surgery sites and more recently COVID infection amongst staff. Our branch site at Hempnall does not lend itself to a safe flow of patients and with small confined spaces, the same entry and exit and no automatic doors we felt the ergonomics did not allow us to manage both staff and patients safely. Furthermore, we felt initially that combining all our clinical resources in the safer environment would reduce our risk to provide an effective service to our patients. In recent times we have had to manage several staff absences because of COVID infection and it has been extremely difficult to man both sites safely with the resources we had at hand. We are now in a position to operate a full clinical service at Hempnall and hope you are now receiving the benefits of this.
