I think this surgery has got better and I use it regularly for blood tests due to a medical condition. I did get a bit cross when I was called in for an extra blood test when I had already had one and it felt like no one had looked at my notes. I see the phlebotomist regularly and they are very nice, I am normally in and out with in 10 minutes. The receptionist have been helpful and nice and if they are not sure will go off and find out and call you back. I am never sure how far in advance the books for blood tests are open as it changes so knowing would be useful.
I will miss Marco he is a great loss, I have not been told who my new doctor is yet, it would be good to know so I can let my consultant at the hospital know.

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide feedback via Healthwatch, which we will of course share with the staff identified.
The reception team often go beyond their duty to help resolve patient problems and get the answers patients need to their problem, so its really lovely to hear that your experience mirrors this.
Our Health Care Assistant appointments are usually available to book at least 4 weeks in advance, but these can get booked quite quickly. We have recently trained two other members of staff to take blood samples and hope this will increase our capacity for phlebotomy.
With regards to the sad departure of Dr Anttila, we had previously appointed 2 new salaried GP's (Dr Adebayo and Dr Oyelola) who will each be taking on a partnership role and have their own patient lists, as well as this we will be having an additional salaried GP joining us in September.
Once we are settled with all the changes we will inform those who were previously registered under Dr Anttila of their new named GP.

I would like to say how relaxed and cared about I felt with Charlotte. She was very thorough and I didn’t feel rushed. She is a great asset to your team.

I have seen so much negativity about the surgery over social media however, I cant fault the staff, From reception to the Nurses and doctors, The Newer Doctor Dr Addy has been fantastic in being so empathetic to some of my ongoing issues and is so calming. If ever I ring or make an online enquiry I always receive a response. I genuinely feel for the reception staff and can sometimes hear how busy they are in their voices but they have always been fantastic. I just wanted to let you all know that you are all doing an amazing job in the current climate and I really appreciate the support you have given myself and my family over the past few months especially.

I think that it's a really good practice. I find I can get appointments astoundingly fast. I get triaged the same day I call and usually get an appointment for the following day. I used quite a few other practices over the years and they've all been good, but not as good as this one. I would prefer if the people doing the triaging were more medically trained and it can be hard to share some information when there are others listening in the waiting room. Overall it's very friendly and open.

You will be given multiple options to choose from.

If you would like to speak to someone more discreetly please inform the receptionist who can arrange for a private room to listen to any information you are happy to share or if preferred we can provide you with paper and a pen to write the information down.
All requests for appointments are put on our triage list which is assessed by either the Practice Nurse or the Duty GP, depending on who is most appropriate. However, we do ask our reception team to take as much information as possible prior to placing the request on the triage list. Please be assured that any decisions taken and assessments made are done so by a Health Care Professional.

The surgery works really well for me. I really like online forms, that works great as I can use it to say what kind of appointment I want. When I call for my children they always get them seen the same day. It's never a GP, always a nurse practitioner, but she's great and she knows me and my family now. When I've asked to see a GP for myself I have been able to see one.

Thank you for the feedback you have provided, which has been shared with the rest of the organisation.
We really like the online forms too, as it allows patients to give lots of information and specify what kind of help they are looking for. There are lots of other forms on the website, which allows patients to submit key information (anything from blood pressure readings through to medication requests) without needing a username and password to log-in!
We also welcome communication by whichever means suits the patient; whether that\'s via e-mail, face to face or the telephone, but would probably draw the line at pigeon mail or smoke signals!

Great local surgery

I know GP surgery have a bad rep at the moment. I just wanted to take the time to say how impressed I have been with Old Catton Medical Practice.
I moved the the area nearly 1 year ago. The registration process was easy and the staff were friendly and helpfull.
Due to COVID some outpatient bloods got missed and the bloods form sent to me to organise with my surgery. I had a same day appointment. Appointment on time and staff were again friendly.
I have a few enquirers which were responded to quickly and conveniently.
I was contacted proactively for my 4th covid jab which I was also impressed with as wondered if me being vulnerable would get lost in the moving GP surgery process but was not.
I have always got appointments quickly.
I particularly like the triage process where you can submit a request and they will triage patients appropriately so the most important things can be seen more swiftly. I found this convenient and a fair process.
Everybody at the surgery I have met have been friendly and approachable.
I know how hard you all work and what long hours you do. As a patient I really appreciate your help and hard work to make such an efficient service .

I've never had any problems with them. The nurses are very good and efficient. I like being able to have a phone appointment with the doctor, it's more convenient when I have something simple to discuss.

I love it, no problems at all. I email them and get replies quickly. I get to see the doctor when I need to. The doctor and nurses are wonderful.
