  My son is autistic and had a number of serious conditions. They listen to my son, give him time, and are aware when he is anxious etc.

  With my medical condition, local anaesthetic doesn't work and they wanted to do a root canal without sedation. I tried to educate them about my condition but they didn't want to know.

  Our Gp referred my children to the Siskin dental clinic. We had our first appointment last month. The dentist was very patient and understanding ...especially as my children didn't want to go into the dentists room.....so the dentist let them stand in the door way and looked into their mouth. The dentist didn't get too close and didn't touch their mouth. It was very good they allowed them to be examined like this ...as my children couldn't cope sitting in the dentists chair and they couldnt cope with being touched. The only thing I would say is that it would improve the experience if there were toys in the waiting room and in the dentist room....this might have made my children more calm and less anxious. They found the waiting room and 'waiting ' difficult as there wasn't anything for them to do, apart from a box of tatty books. Also in the dentists room it was obviously very clinical and therefore made my children anxious, so again maybe a few toys would make them less anxious in this unfamiliar environment.

  I had to go for a filling. Dentist was very good. Reception were very friendly and talked to me. The nurse was very nice too. Practice I'm waiting to register with has closed their books but suggested I come here for emergency treatment. Called up at 8am and got a same day appointment. Really good service but looking forward to getting my own surgery.

  My dentist couldn’t cope with my son, who has autism and they referred me to the Siskin service. They come from there to Dereham Community Hospital and they are just fantastic. They treat my son so well and the staff are very good. They have longer appointments for my son and I can’t fault it. As a result my son has no fears of attending the dentist.

• Phobic sufferers are no longer welcome

  Many years ago I was able to receive a referral through my doctor for a dentist to come to my home for dentistry needs. This was provided NHS through the centre which as someone who has agoraphobia, social phobia and a fear of dentistry work due to childhood trauma was a relief. The service was excellent, the lovely dentist and nurse helped me access the bowthorpe clinic for x-ray and scaling/polishing. I haven't been for a few years and asked for a referral this year to find that the service is no longer being provided for patients with phobias! I can't see how they can make this cut back without it being discrimination? So Im no longer able to get my teeth or gums treated and with periodontal disease this is appalling! I am no longer welcome within the NHS dental practice at the Work in centre.

  You’re lucky if you can get one a year. I miss the old days.

• No training with special needs patients

  Siskin surgery has no training with special needs, autism, to my knowledge. There needs to me more training. They provided gas for my son as he was a difficult patient. They couldn't manage him.
