Changes
23rd October 2019The surgery has changed over the years I have been registered here. The reception staff and clinical care is still good but it does feel very process driven, and that there are boxes to be ticked regardless of patient care.

Well trained staff
23rd October 2019I can usually get an appointment when I feel I need one. The staff are well trained and I am very confident with the care I get. I am happy with this surgery and for me a friendly, smiley face is very important. It makes the surgery feel welcoming and approachable.

Wonderful Surgery
23rd October 2019St James is a wonderful surgery and I have no complaints at all. The staff are all really helpful. I want to say how great all the staff are and how efficient the service is. As with any GP surgery the telephone system can be frustrating but that does not detract from the great service the surgery provides.

Very good surgery
23rd October 2019The care I receive is very good although parking is difficult. The voicemail message when you call is far too long. The GP's are all lovely and did home visits for my Mum. They were very supportive, reassuring and helpful and did all they could to keep Mum at home during her illness.

Blood tests
23rd October 2019If a GP requests a blood test it would be good if it can be done there and then at the time of the initial consultation. I care for my husband and so a second appointment for a blood test means leaving him again and another trip to the surgery. This can be difficult for a carer and the parking is also difficult at the surgery. It is not a very green approach either. Other than that the care is very good.

Excellent Surgery
23rd October 2019This is an excellent surgery, I can not fault the service I receive. I have been a regular user of the surgery over the last 12 months. If I want to see a specific GP I may have to wait a while to see them. When I am seen I am given positive information and given something to work with rather than a 'come back next year' approach.

Telephone message
23rd October 2019The telephone message is very long and for those with memory problems it is difficult to take in the message. I would rather the phone is just answered by a receptionist but realise this is very difficult. The GPs, nurses and all other staff are great. It is a good surgery and I would be very sorry if it moved out of town.

Good GP Practice
11th September 2019This is a really good GP practice. The GP's and other staff are all helpful and caring. I can usually get through on the telephone but as I work it would be useful to be able to see a GP on a Saturday.

Acceptable care
11th September 2019It is very hard to get an appointment and I never see the same person each time. The care is acceptable however it is frustrating to not have any continuity of care and having to go over the same discussion each time. The support staff are helpful and try their best but I would like to see the same person for some things.

Lack of continuity wastes time
16th August 2019At St James' you don't see the same doctor twice, which means they are not aware of your symptoms. A doctor who I hadn't been treated by before called me in, then when I got to the consultation he didn't seem to know what the appointment was about. After faffing around the computer he finally told me that he was going to prescribe pregablin to me - which I have already been taking for ages! If I had the same doctor that knew my symptoms this wouldn't have happened and no one's time would have been wasted.
