Delays in receiving results
31st July 2019Following a GP referral I was seen at the hospital and had a scan. Unbeknown to me my care was then downgraded and I was placed on a waiting list for a follow up appointment. I spent several weeks watching the letterbox and putting my life on hold as I did not know the scan results and did not know I had been placed on a waiting list as my care had been downgraded to non urgent. It was emotionally distressing and the lack of communication is very poor. I do now have an appointment but I still don't know the scan results and can only assume it is nothing serious as it has taken weeks to get the appointment. Surely if results are not serious this can be communicated by letter or telephone to prevent the stress of waiting for results?

Brancaster Outpatients
31st July 2019I receive my appointment through the post and it would be useful if I could book my next appointment at the time I attend the clinic. I can change the appointment but it would save staff time if I booked it to suit me initially. It would also be helpful if you paid for your parking when you leave the hospital as I never know how long I will be. The staff are great and I am very happy with the care I receive. The three things most important for my care are: I don't want to feel rushed during my appointment Reliable communication; if you say you are going to call then do so Feeling confident with answers to any questions

Excellent antenatal care
31st July 2019The staff are very friendly and approachable. Sarah provides very good care and I know how to contact the service if I have any questions or if I am worried about anything. I am very happy with my care and get plenty of advice about managing my blood sugars and diet.

Results delay
31st July 2019It has been quite a stressful time as there was a delay in being told I have Gestational Diabetes. I was told I would have the result within 24 hours and so after 24 hours I assumed everything was ok. However I then received a text message 72 hours later to tell me I had an appointment in the Antenatal Diabetes Clinic. I found all this traumatic and had to chase the results myself. I was then offered a group appointment with Sarah which was good and was given lots of information. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it was just the delay in results which was upsetting. The three most important things for my care are: The care during my pregnancy Communication Knowing we can ask questions

Food is poor
31st July 2019I had a recent stay on Denver Ward. The care I received was very good however the quality of the food is very poor. Good nutrition is vital in recovering during a time of illness and the food is just not good enough even though I know it is catering for a large number of patients.

Brancaster Outpatients
31st July 2019The care is good, I have been given information about who to contact if I need some advice or have a question. My appointments do occasionally feel rushed although I don't normally have to sit and wait too long for my appointment. The waiting area is a bit dull, they have moved the children's play area away from the wall art and there seems to be less toys to keep them busy while I wait. It doesn't look very inviting. The three things most important for my care are: Not being rushed Being listened to Consistency in who I see

Antenatal diabetes care
31st July 2019I attended a group information session initially and I am now seen in the antenatal diabetes clinic. The group session worked well, everything was explained fully about the condition and all my many questions were answered. It wasn't rushed and I found it very helpful. The Brancaster outpatients waiting room is a bit shabby and there has obviously been a flood over the reception area which can't be very nice for the staff working behind the reception desk. The toys in the waiting room are not very exciting and don't keep my child occupied for long, and sometimes I can be here quite a long time waiting for my different appointments. I can phone with any questions or worries but it does take quite a while for anyone to get back to me.The staff are lovely and the care I receive is good.

Castle Acre Ward
31st July 2019I had to stay on Castle Acre Ward for my baby to be monitored and whilst the care was great the temperature wasn't. There are not enough fans to keep patients cool and during pregnancy that was a real issue. The inpatient food is also poor and I never got what I actually requested.
