Duty of care?
3rd August 2018My father is in a local care home in and has been quite poorly recently. I happened to visit him at the same time as the doctor when he was suffering from a suspected UTI. The doctor did all his checks and then said there was nothing else he could do and walked out. My father clearly needed help and the care home staff were quite dumbfounded by the doctors actions. Shortly afterwards they decided to call the paramedics and my father was admitted to the N&N for 3 days! Admitting patients is not something the hospital do lightly and in light of this I feel this particular doctor failed in their duty of care towards my father. I feel this particular experience was 'terrible' but I've given the practice 'poor' overall as the surgery itself is a pleasure to deal with in comparison to other practices. They are very slick, efficient and the staff are excellent. My dissatisfaction is purely with the particular doctor on this occasion.

Appointment system is awful
29th June 2018The appointment system is awful but the doctors are great. If you haven't booked an appointment by 10am it's impossible. I recently had an infection and they told me to go to A&E as they were short staffed, I knew it wasn't an emergency, but what can you do?

Prompt referrals
23rd May 2018It's very busy. Can't always get an appointment but they are very good with me about my disability. They always help me when it comes to my medication and have referred me to the hospital pain team.

Very good surgery
4th April 2018It's a very good surgery. It's getting more and more difficult to get an appointment. I don't like that you have to tell the receptionist what the problem is over the phone or in person. I think they do their best. I struggle to get through on the phone to get an appointment at 8:30am.

Phoning for an appointment poor system
5th March 2018I can never get through on the phone to see a GP on a day when I need to. I have had to get in the car to reach the surgery, to ask to see a GP about an unexplained medical occurrence which was distressing me only to be turned away in tears and wait at home until mid afternoon for a GP to ring. I am not vulnerable, have no obvious long term health issues so talking to a GP over the phone now is seen to be effective. How can any doctor diagnose effectively without seeing the patient? It is cutting corners on vital care if you ask me.
