COVID guidance was very good

Very good! The COVID guidance was very good and I didn't wait long. I was seen in less than 5 minutes. They had time for me, listened and answered all my questions. They're doing a biopsy within 24 hours which is very reassuring for me. The consultant was excellent.
The most important thing to me when visiting the hospital is to feel reassured, have all my questions answered and feel I have been looked after.

Fantastic for my biopsy

Fantastic! I had a biopsy done and I never felt a thing. The only improvement I can think of is that the hospital just isn't big enough. They need to build on top or somewhere else. I understand they will then have to find the staff but it just can't cope, even without COVID it was struggling. There aren't enough health centres either which doesn't help. So it's difficult for people with no car and buses can be difficult. Even the food has been lovely when I've had to stay in the hospital. The restaurant is better than the wards. Staff communication wasn't so good one time, when the nurses went off during my discharge. I was sent off at 8pm on a Friday and the nurses didn't hand over any information. The most important thing to me when I'm visiting the hospital, is the relationship I have with the person I am seeing. Having good rapport is important to me. They've always been good with that here.

It's important to me that appointments are on time. Today was good and quick. I can not think of any improvements the hospital can make.

Great but more awareness of nightmares

Hospital have been very supportive during my stay and put the necessary support in place. The staff have been brilliant. They've kept my meds up to date and have given me enough pain relief.
The most important thing for me when visiting the hospital is feeling safe and secure.
Improvements I'd like to see would be bigger drinks. I'm extremely dehydrated and they keep giving me tiny drinks. I've asked for more and they're still tiny drinks. I'm starting to run out of money buying my own at the shop. The people in the shop have been very good when I'm counting out pennies but would be better to have larger drinks available on the wards.
It would be good to have nurses trained to cope with patients having nightmares due to trauma. One nurse told me to "go to sleep and you'll be okay" when I had a nightmare and was restless at night.

Parking is terrible

Submitted by Anonymous18th October 2021
It was very quick today which it is not always. My wife is in a wheelchair and cannot walk a step and the accessible parking is poor. There are not enough spaces and it is frustrating to see security closing car parks which have spaces in them. It's important that I am able to get my wife out of the car and into the hospital easily. I feel somethings about the hospital are still old fashioned and traditional but some are modern using lots of different technology and I find this confusing, this could be improved.

I come every 6 weeks to the eye department.
It's important to me to seen on time and be treated right.
An improvement that could be made is the group booking in the south department. If you are the last to be seen then you can be waiting as long as 4 to 5 hours.
It's important to me to know you are seeing the right person.
I had a 45 minute wait at the fracture clinic today which I did not think was too bad. I went to Cromer minor injuries department yesterday and seen here today which I think is good.
The only improvement I think should be made is to the parking.
I have had two elderly parents use the hospital over the last year.
For me it is important that the staff talk to the family or carers as the elderly patients do not always understand what is going on. The communication can vary depending on what department you are dealing with and it can be very frustrating if the phone is on the wrong ward.
The discharge process needs to be improved, you can be waiting at 10am and it doesn't happen till 6pm.
It may be a little thing but having the right size pyjamas is so important for a patients dignity.
It's important to me that appointments are on time or if they are running late you are informed rather than you just sitting there not knowing what is going on.
I saw a consultant 3 years ago about my condition but they have called me back as technology has improved and they may be able to do more.
I originally had an appointment in January 2020 but it got delayed. I had heard nothing so rang them up and got an appointment within 2 weeks.
I can not think of any improvements the hospital could make.
I have had one cataract done and it has made so much difference.
Its important to me when I visit that I just get in and out with no hanging around.
I can't think of any improvements the hospital could make.
