I need to see the doctor face-to-face

I feel vulnerable living alone by myself. I’m 80 now and I have no family here. My daughter lives abroad. I have no one close to me who sees me regularly. I need my doctor to physically see me. It really concerns me that I can’t have a face-to-face appointment with my doctor. When will this change? Everyone is pleasant mostly. Sometimes the receptionists are unhelpful and speak so fast that I can’t follow what they’re saying.

A relation was thought to have an infection and was put down for a blood test which he waited 4 days plus 1 day for the result to come back which confirmed he was very ill resultingly he died within days if the test had been done the same day they might still be here.

Repeat prescription

Order medicine with repeat prescription put it in post box, go to the pharmacy nothing, phone to sort this out no help. It’s takes 8 minutes to attend calls. When call is taken they won’t except orders over the phone. So what does one do then? This surgery has always had very bad service.
From bad diagnosis of doctors to very bad reception and patient service
It’s about time someone should care of this

Understaffed?

Difficult to get an appointment at the best of times wait a week or two, Since Covid appointments are non existent following footfall form filling in online, despite receiving a text saying your appointment is at XXX surgery all appointments are by phone calls which is misleading. Also all test results on patient electronic notes say patient informed of results but no one from the surgery ever phones and informs you of the results.which is misleading. Admin staff need training.

One of the worst practices I've used

I used to live overseas and I think this is one of the worst practices I've used. Myself and my wife have a lot of problems over prescriptions.

Could do better

Can wait over a month for an appointment unless urgent on the day. Getting a repeat prescription is an ongoing challenge. Doctors are amazing, but let down by admin staff who would benefit from training.

The surgery is good, and they have been getting better and willing to learn about learning disability and autism. They have invited me in to the practice to speak with staff about autism, to make services better.

Waiting time for a non-urgent GP appointment is at least two weeks, for any GP, not just your own. Reception aren't very good, I think they need more support and training. Once you're actually seen I think the care is fantastic, but what's the point if you can't ever get an appointment. Group practices are fine, and they spread the services, but if you can't drive, it's difficult to access other surgeries.

Struggle to get appointments

I think every surgery should have a doctor who only does emergency appointments for half of the day, that way you can always be seen if it's urgent.
