  I just want to say Thankyou to Diane on reception and to let you know how incredibly kind and thoughtful she is when dealing with a problem in her very busy day. I had waited to see a doctor for 2 weeks as I was having so much pain when eating and drinking for 5 months after being taken off my medication which had given me no side effects. The doctor was sick so cancelled that morning so after I explained to Diane that I was going on 70th birthday celebrations to India very soon she managed to squeeze me in an appointment that afternoon resulting in commencement of my medication and no more problems! Also she is so very helpful in trying to arrange appointments for my husband and I so that we can drive in to the surgery together. We have received excellent care as we are aging gradually and now need a bit of attention these days! 5 stars to all in these very busy times!!!!

  My experience has been great on the whole, patient and compassionate GPs working hard to meet the needs of the community. Recently it has become increasingly difficult to get a routine appointment. For example, my named GP asked me to see him in one month’s time but he only works Thursdays and Fridays and I have been told to call on a Thursday or Friday morning to get an appointment for two weeks’ time. I have done this for three consecutive weeks and still no appointments available so it will be at least 6 weeks before I can see him. He has also given me a sick note for 4 weeks and won’t give me another one until I have seen him. If only seeing him were that simple!

• Telephone appointments are great.

  Having a telephone appointment is a good use of resources. However it would be helpful to have a time slot when you know the doctor will call. I work in a job where it is impossible to pick up the phone so I miss the call. I then have to join the queue again when I call back. There is also a problem with consistency. I spend a lot of time re telling my story to different doctors. However you do always get a courteous service when you speak to people.
