I was a clinician concerning a mark on my neck in December. He asked me to scrape the scab of it and keep a photo diary of what happened. He thought it could be a type of skin cancer. I was supposed to come back in January but was unable as my daughter has been very unwell with depression partly due to problem with grandson who has Downs Syndrome and Autism.
I sent a form in today and received a message saying my request had been triaged by an appropriate clinician and considered to be of routine priority. They have requested that a patients who need routine appointments contact the surgery at a later time.
My family has been registered at this surgery since 1984 and it has got so bad recently.
Surely this isn’t the way to treat patients.
I cannot express how happy my husband and I are that decided to join your practice I got in touch first thing in morning on line explaining how concerned I was about my husband and received a phone call within the hour with a appointment for him to see a doctor the next day .the doctor he saw was great took plenty of time with him cannot praise the practice enough it’s wonderful being able to see a doctor face to face not just a phone call
Have been experiencing issues with making appointments for my family for a long time now. We live within very easy distance from Sussex Road, but actually getting an appointment at that branch is like a lucky dip. My son last year couldn’t walk suddenly on one leg it was too painful, so filled in an online form requesting a gp appointment, clearly requested for Sussex road, specified that I don’t drive and he was struggling to walk. Given a face to face appointment at Magdalen way! So he would have to walk (same amount of time whether to walk all the way or walk into the town for a bus) and no available taxis at the time as usual. Was told over the phone by a receptionist that was all they could do, desperate for someone to see him I had to help him hop there and back which he shouldn’t have had to deal with. That walk made him worse and he ended up in hospital as a result.
I became ill last month with flu, which turned into an infection, could barely get out of bed, requested a phone appointment left an explanation & details, given a face to face at Hopton. Had to cancel and phone up to explain, but they gave me the gp appointment by phone I asked for in the first place! Why didn’t they just do that then??
Today filled in an online form for my son, requesting for phone appointment or if face to face Sussex road due to myself not being able to drive, stated i am ill same as him, and too ill for travel. Yes you guessed it, face to face at Hopton branch!
They clearly used to read what I’d written before, a receptionist used to kindly call me if needed and I would get the help needed. I am so fed up of making online appointments just to have to cancel them and be stuck in a call queue just to say what I had already put in the form and they offer what I had initially asked for?! It’s gotten to the point where I avoid the doctors at much as possible even when I shouldn’t because I know it’s never going to be simple and just stresses me out.
had an appointment booked for a friday to check a skin condition. On the tuesday before realized might affect travel insurance so needed to sort it out as we were getting very stressed. went to hopton at 8 that morning and the reception team managed to get me an appointment at 10 that morning which allowed us to resolve a very stessful situation for us
Been with Sussex Road for over a decade, in recent years I've had to fight to get seen, never get to the bottom of what's wrong, and no one seems to have overall view of my health. With a disability its impossible to get the right support. Most recently I waited weeks to see a mental health nurse who ignored the reason I had asked to be seen and went about her own agenda for half an hour eventually telling me 'things could be worse!'
a few times i have contacted the surgery asking for a GP to call or to be seen it is very hard to get either of the two, if you receive an appointment its 3 weeks after you have asked for one which isn't any good when you are in pain and just want to be seen
Ive been a part of this surgery since the merger of my previous surgery from a few years back.
The big issue with this surgery is the good doctors come, they're about for a few months, then they gone again.
I have been seen mostly by Dr Dr Zukowski who quite honestly is the best doctor this practice has ever had. She listens, and truly cares about her patients! She remembers who I am and my medical history, what we have tried and what we should do next.
I've since asked for an appointment with her to be told they don't know who I'm talking about, and now my next appointment is with someone new. I don't mind but the number of times a doctor fails to even have a quick skim of my medical notes is honestly quite frightening.
I've recently had a telephone consultation with another doctor where an argument ensured because she did not read anything about me, nor would she listen to anything said on the call and is ignorant to the notes over what she believe to be the only steps of action.
I was subsequently told by her I am apparently not unwell and despite previous sick notes being issued, she was unwilling to issue one. I am on a waiting list for a specialist consultant and the wait unfortunately 28 weeks. While waiting for my appointment apparently I am now cured and don't need any sick note.
She then told me if I wasn't happy to phone the practise as she will not be discussing the matter any further and at my request I can talk to a different GP who may have a different take on the situation.
I called to be told that I would not be allowed to talk to anyone about it and the notes she put on my record did not match what she told me. The receptionist refused to give me any doctors appointment and I am at the point where I struggle to walk!
I was eventually referred to the "head receptionist" who would not discuss the issues at hand and ultimately asked what do I actually want. I said I want to have even 5 minutes of not being in constant pain, I got told to call if my conditions worsen and all that happened when I called was be told that essentially there is sod all wrong with me. I was then reluctanly given an appointment 5 weeks later with a new GP and I will see how that plays out tomorrow.
Going from Dr Zukowski to this experience and the receptionist that took my call afterwards portray the surgery in two very polar opposite experiences.
All the good staff and GPS ALWAYS LEAVE, so why does this practice have so many issues retaining the good staff?
Recent transfer to this surgery while period away therefore several things to catch up, phones are answered and matters sorted and dealt with efficiently. Even if in queue you know where you are.
Rang at 8am on the Tuesday after a bank holiday Monday expecting long waits. Phone was picked up straight away and after brief explanation of husbands symptoms , a very nice receptionist offered us an appt with the doctor who had been dealing with my husbands condition at 9.10 am the same morning! Doctor Gopaul quickly prescribed treatment to help going forward and arranged other tests also. We have always been very grateful for our NHS but this service was just amazing!
