Utterly indebted to paramedic Ian who saw me within 1 hr 30mins of contact - I had a near-fatal asthma attack 2 days earlier. He was most reassuring and helpful with advice and prescription. He also made time to see my pal who had given me a lift there. We are both eternally grateful to Ian for giving us Instant appointment. Such dedication and professionalism are as rare as gold dust. He deserves a Huge pay rise - please cherish such dedicated staff!

The times I have had to ring them, they always listen!! a key skill lacking in so many other surgeries/formal situations. They are friendly, are helpful and direct you to the right person. You can speak to your doctor and the wait depends upon the urgency of the situation, which is realistic. At times, my own excellent GP has rung me at 7pm because he is determined to get through his list. He always offers suggestion if it's not straightforward and ALWAYS follows through, ringing me himself or his assistant, to tell me what he's doing and what is going to happen. It's actually better than it used to be years ago, elsewhere in other surgeries.
I am writing about BOTH surgeries..........equally good!

The drs are amazing however unfortunately I have had been given unprofessional care from one doctor. I saw them with worrying symptoms following an operation and the doctor explained that other patients have been re admitted to Hospital to manage the problem. However they became angry with me saying that I was worrying too much and to go away. I decided to go to A&e afterwards and when I arrived, I was taken straight into Resus. I was made to feel like a nuisance which was a shame

Same day meeting with a paramedic

I phoned at 8 AM, Ian (paramedic) phoned me at 10.15 and asked me to come in at 11.45.
I saw Ian who has a fantastic knowledge and a caring nature. He put my mind at rest, prescribed medication and told me what I should expect .
All in all a very positive experience.

I had a consultation with Dr Abbot yesterday about post op pain relief. She was immensely helpful. She made her points clearly, listened to my view and suggested a way forward that makes complete sense to me. I came off the phone feeling relieved, listened to and very pleased to be a patient in such a good practice. It isn’t the first time I have felt so pleased about the quality of response from the practice. I usually see Dr Schweigart and have great respect for his ability to have a professional discussion with me based on my concerns that leaves me feeling he is properly listening to me and thinking about my situation. I have never felt like ‘just another patient’. Always feel I am seen as an individual and my concerns are heard. I could go one about other GPS, the helpfulness of the pharmacy staff, the helpfulness of the reception staff. You are a great practice. Thank you.

Have always found all Admin, Medical and Clinical staff very helpful and polite. Had cause to seek a face to face with a GP recently who I had not met before. Excellent help and he positively listened to my concerns - so important! Thank you all.

They don't delay

As I have gotten older means I've visited the Surgery abit more than I used to. The Doctors seem to refer you instantly if they think you need to be seen by a Consultant also they have a very good bedside manner which goes a long way.
If a problem persists they do seem to take ownership of the issue.

Poor call backs

The surgery operates a call back system but unfortunately it isn’t up to par. I carry my mobile everywhere awaiting the call but they either don’t ring and cancel the appointment, they ring the wrong number and put an angry message on my record or hang up just when I answer. A very poor service.

Paramedic Ian is fantastic!

My daughter and I were both ill. Called the surgery at 8am, and they set up a call back in the morning from the paramedic. Ian called at 8.45am offering an appointment to see him. He was fantastic with my daughter. Very thorough, puts you at ease and explains everything. Old Mill Surgery are lucky to have Ian! Thank you for your time and hard work.

I phoned at 08:15to ask for a call from a Doctor. Within half an hour a paramedic phoned and arranged to see me 1.5hours later. The receptionist was helpful and relaxed although busy. He paramedic was professional and friendly and super helpful. I also saw a Doctor as part of the appt. I was then given blood tests and some medication. I couldn’t have had better service.
